Vitellin is a very clever little bird, capable of building totally waterproof and dependable nests using the materials available in its nearby environment.

And it’s also the name of a company specializing in insulation in Occitanie that we were delighted to drive and support with their Bilan Carbone® (Carbon Footprint Assessment)!

As we often say, achieving this Bilan Carbone® (Carbon Footprint Assessment) and thus quantifying the impact of our professional activities is the first step towards a more responsible transition.

Once the data has been collected, the Bilan Carbone® can be used to identify the biggest sources of emissions, the so called “Hot spots”. This enables us to jointly put in place concrete actions to limit our dependence on fossil fuels, to increase our corporate resilience, to generate savings and to achieve greater sustainability.

If you are keen to get started but budget is a concern, don’t hesitate to check you’re eligible for the Diag Décarbon’Action subsidies. This program, co-funded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), can cover up to 60% of the carbon footprint assessment costs. We remain fully available for any question you might have.

Why did Vitellin decide to carry out its carbon footprint assessment?

« « The carbon footprint assessment is a decisive step in Vitellin’s climate commitment. Beyond its mission to decarbonize and combat energy waste in private, public and tertiary buildings in Occitanie, Vitellin wanted to go further in its environmental approach. To know, measure and improve the impact of its activity on the environment, in order to contribute even more to decarbonization and the energy transition. » «

What is a carbon footprint assessment?

– A carbon footprint assessment follows a structured methodology to calculate a company’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

– It enables the calculation of carbon emissions produced by a company’s activities and the identification of strategies for emission reduction.

– It serves as the initial step in a company’s climate commitment.

Some ideas for action

First of all, we congratulate Vitellin on their commitment to reducing their environmental impact. The carbon footprint assessment is a first step. The action plan comes next. Here are some avenues that Mavana has identified for our customer.

  • purchase of raw materials (44% of the carbon footprint): make customers aware of the carbon impact of materials (by including the data in the quotation) ;
  • transportation (22% of the carbon footprint): reduces number of deliveries and set up a tracking tool to collect more precise data for the next carbon footprint assessment ;
  • fixed assets (14% of the carbon footprint): set up an inventory of equipment and software to extend their lifespan and give preference to eco-designed materials ;
  • services (8% of the carbon footprint): request carbon footprints from partners and suppliers in order to include this indicator in the selection grid.
